Cairo by Sophie 4JP

We have been doing some Multi-Sensory Locational Writing (MSLW) about Alexandria and Cairo.  This is something Sophie has done at home.  Please do leave her a comment telling her what you think she did well!

As I took my foot off the old, wooden boat, a little girl was jumping up and down in a big crowd of people.  I carefully placed my other foot off the boat and looked up at the tall buildings on either side of me which made me feel very small.  I sprinted through the narrow, winding alleyway, hearing the echoes of horses neighing in the distance.  Calmly, I listened to the relaxing noise of the river, which glistened like a diamond and, above that, the instruments being played in the street.  A smokey smell led me into a strange butchers shop where I saw a man wearing a blood-stained apron who was listening to music.

  1. WOW I can already hear the sounds and sense the smells that Sophie describes. She has painted a wonderful picture in my mind that leaves me wanting to know more about what happened next. KJ.
