Breakaway Headteacher Awards 4JP

We are really enjoying reading and singing along to Breakaway by Kelly Clarkson.  Having learned about P(oint) E(vidence) E(xplanation) answers, we tried to write some of our own about this song.  Three girls from 4JP got headteacher awards for their fantastic spoken and written answers.

Here is the lyric video for the song:

And here are some of their questions and answers:

2) How does she feel about where she lived?

She feels stuck and trapped because she says "something felt so wrong here."  She feels small and cooped up because she says "grew up in a small town." (Claudia M).

I think she feels ignored because she says "felt like no one could hear me. (Alice

3)  How does she feel about the place in the last 2 verses?

I think she feels bright and ready because "get onboard a fast train, travel on a jet plane" shows she is ready to start all over again. (Claudia M)

I think she feels relaxed because she says "sleep under a palm tree."  Those words make her and me happy. (Alice)

I think she feels stuck and trapped because she said "something felt so wrong here."  I think she feels bored because she says "just stare out my window." (Mia)

4) What sort of place is she dreaming about?

I think she's dreaming about a big town because she says "building with a hundred floors."  Big buildings will have lots of floors in and there are big buildings in big towns. (Claudia and Alice)

I think it is a big place because it says "I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly."  I think if it was a small town, she wouldn't be able to "spread her wings" but it it was a big place, she would be able to. (Mia)
