Y4 Catch the Reading Bug!

Year 4 children have certainly caught the reading bug over the past couple of weeks and long may it continue! At the start of the year, each class were given a budget to spend on updating our reading corners. The children spent a lot of time discussing their reading preferences and putting together their wish lists.

Our books have now arrived in school and we have many titles to tempt! The books we have ordered include many popular book box sets including Harry Potter, Beast Quest and Diary of a Wimpy Kid. We have also ordered books by popular children's authors such as Jeremy Strong, Roald Dahl and David Walliams. The children are loving this choice of excellent titles and a reserve list has already been started in 4RW!

In Guided Reading this week, we have been focusing on using evidence from the text to support our viewpoints. However, instead of using books, we have looked at song lyrics and have answered questions about the viewpoint of the person singing. We really enjoyed having a sing along in Guided Reading and learnt something new as well! As you can see below, the children worked really hard at it. Great reading, 4RW!
